Meet Nue
I’m Sharmaine “Nuenuee” Johnson—a freelance writer, media correspondent, and podcast host making moves out here in Los Angeles. I’ve got a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Health Services from Western Michigan University and a Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Walden University. My academic grind laid the foundation, but my heart has always been in storytelling, connection, and making a difference.

Back in 2017, I realized my passions ran deep in music, pop culture, health, wellness, and giving back. That epiphany sparked my journey into blogging and media, where I’ve been focused on telling uplifting, purposeful stories. By 2018, I landed a spot with Pretty Hustlaz, a local media outlet, where my knack for interviewing and putting out positive content got noticed. That’s when I knew journalism was my lane.

In 2019, I packed up and moved to L.A. to chase my dreams head-on. With no major company behind me, I launched The Nuesstand—my platform for showcasing stories that connect pop culture with philanthropy. It’s all about positivity and growth, and I’m proud of the space I’ve built to inspire others.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to cover major events like the Daytime Emmys, NAACP Image Awards, BeautyCon, Essence Festival, and more. I’ve interviewed some incredible people, including Tabitha Brown, Saweetie, LisaRaye, Doechii, Claressa Shields, Meagan Good, Ryan Destiny, and Kevin Gates. My work has been featured on platforms like REVOLT TV, Blavity’s 21Ninety, Black Excellence Society, and 247 Live Culture Magazine.

My ultimate goal? To merge my love for pop culture and philanthropy into a media empire that shines a light on nonprofits and the people driving real change in our communities. Redefining “spilling the tea,” I’m all about delivering stories that inspire, uplift, and push us forward.
