Meet Nuee

I’m Sharmaine “Nuenuee” Johnson, a Los Angeles–based multimedia journalist with a genuine love for pop culture, music, wellness, and storytelling that brings people together. I earned my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Health Services from Western Michigan University and my Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Walden University, but honestly, most of what I’ve learned has come from connecting with people, asking thoughtful questions, and uncovering stories that actually matter.

I’ve been working in media since 2018, starting with Pretty Hustlaz, where I really found my voice interviewing and highlighting people doing meaningful work. Since then, I’ve covered major events like the Daytime Emmys, NAACP Image Awards, Rolling Loud, Essence Festival, and ComplexCon. I’ve had the chance to interview artists, actors, and athletes, including Doechii, Saweetie, Denzel Washington, Claressa Shields, Meagan Good, Ryan Destiny, Stephen Curry, and Dave East, with my work featured across BET, REVOLT TV, Blavity’s 21Ninety, Black Excellence Society, 247 Live Culture Magazine, and Digital Avne.

At the core of everything I do is a passion for connecting pop culture with positivity. I’m intentional about creating content that inspires people and encourages a healthy lifestyle—mentally, physically, and spiritually. Whether I’m covering a major event or sitting down for an interview, my goal is always to tell stories that not only entertain but also leave people feeling seen, motivated, and poured into.
